The long-awaited Apep airsoft land mine is here! A dual-mode replica of the M2 SLAM mine system (as seen on Half Life and Battlefield) combines an ultra-compact, cool-looking design with a sensor system designed to mitigate false triggers.
With no tripwire required, the Apep is very quick to deploy. Simply turn on, place and then leg it! The Apep automatically arms itself after 30 seconds and in it's default mode will fire upon detecting a target within a certain percentage of a recorded distance for a certain amount of time. This system is intended to limit and mitigate phantom triggers and thus will ignore fast-moving objects. It will only fire what it can "hit".
And there's more. The Apep will warn you if the sensor is being obstructed while being placed, giving you a chance to change placement to limit the chances of the mine not being able to detect targets. And if the sensor is deliberately obstructed whilst arming, the Apep enters Trap Mode. Useful for booby-traps. Moving the obstruction a minimum distance of 15cm in Trap Mode will fire the mine. Stick it under a site prop and it'll go bang once the prop is lifted. The maximum detection range is approx. 6 feet, this can be increased to around 4.5m max on request.
And we're not done. The rear of the Apep has an array of magnets, allowing for placement of the mine on magnetic surfaces (keep it at chest height please, and don't stick it on your car's lovely paintwork) such as oil drums, girders and site vehicles.
The Apep includes two Meteorite Cap Carriages. One to use and one spare. Uses a 7.4v battery (not included). Wired to a JST connector but can be fitted with different connectors upon request including a 9V PP3 connector. A 7.4V HPA FCU battery is what I use and it works perfectly. Battery compartment size is approx. 34x20x40mm. Mine dimensions approx: 156mm high, 90mm wide and 62mm deep. Weight is approx. 295 grams.
